R+P Post 17: Our planned costumes and props, hair and make-up

We started off by listing all of the props that we would need for the shoot, we then wrote down who would be bringing what and we would also ask the actors to bring in what they could for the costumes.

The costumes we used were different for each character:

Blake- a white shirt, a black blazer, a black tie and dark trousers. We decided to use these for our main character as it will make him seem recognisable and also look a bit like James Bond, one of our main inspirations for the opening. It  would also make him stand out in contrast to the other characters such as the thugs and made him seem out of place, as if he didn't belong there. Perhaps it would make him seem as though he's dressing how he thinks he should, as opposed to an appropriate way for the location, as he is naive to the ways of this criminal setting.

Jen- A leather jacket, vest top, black trousers. At first, we had envisioned Jen as a glamorous femme fatale, however we changed her image to make her seem like a  stronger, more independent character. Her somewhat casual attire is supposed to show how she has blended into this criminal location, reflecting a part of her character.

Others - As the scene took place outside of a casino, we wanted it to be more casual looking than say, Casino Royale. One way we did this was by dressing the two thugs in a casual way, with one wearing a checkered shirt and the other one wearing a leather jacket.

The table we used was borrowed from the school's dining hall, we chose to do this because although it was a bit tedious to take it to and from the dining hall, we wanted to use a round table for the scene. Other things we added to our poker game setting included felt for the table, poker chips and cards. We also brought in props that were necessary for the plot of the opening, such as fake guns and a ring.
